Crowley Care – Assisi Apartments is an award-winning seniors living development that delivers 26 contemporary independent living apartments designed to support older Australians to live independently while remaining connected to a vibrant and supportive community.
Situated alongside the Ballina wetlands, the development responds to its unique natural setting by maximising connections to landscape, natural light and outdoor living. Shared amenities, including a resident community hub, landscaped gardens and inviting communal spaces, encourage social interaction, wellbeing and an active lifestyle.
The architectural design embraces a warm, residential character through the use of face brickwork, weatherboard-inspired cladding, natural timber and bespoke screening elements that provide privacy, solar protection and visual interest. Open-air walkways, screened bridge links and landscaped internal courtyards replace traditional enclosed corridors, creating an environment that feels open, welcoming and closely connected to nature.
Developed in collaboration with Crowley Care and Total Construction, the project reflects Crowley Care’s commitment to providing high-quality accommodation that enables residents to age in place with dignity, independence and security. Every aspect of the design has been carefully considered to balance accessibility, comfort and community, creating a place where residents can enjoy both privacy and meaningful social connection.
Recognised with a Master Builders Regional Building Award in the Aged Care / Lifestyle Over 55’s category for projects over $20 million, Crowley Care – Assisi Apartments is a testament to the strong partnership between client, builder and design team, delivering a contemporary seniors living community that enriches quality of life while setting a benchmark for independent living in the Northern Rivers.
