New-build of café/tuckshop as meeting space for parents and students, as well as servicing events on college green.
BM_ have proudly master planned Immanuel Lutheran College, designing nearly every building on the campus as part of a long-term collaboration. The vision for the campus has been to create dynamic, adaptable spaces that foster both individual learning and community connections. Our most recent addition, the Social Pantry Café, represents a significant shift in how students and staff interact with their learning environment.
The Social Pantry Café embodies the core principles outlined in our Social Pantry White Paper—empowering students to make independent choices, fostering collaboration, and providing an informal setting that bridges the gap between social interaction and learning. The café replaces the traditional canteen model, offering a space where students can gather, eat, and engage in unscripted conversations, while simultaneously building a sense of community.
Designed with a strong focus on flexibility and autonomy, the café encourages students to feel more integrated into the fabric of the school, allowing them to take ownership of their learning journeys. The surrounding communal decks, open views, and inviting interiors contribute to a sense of belonging and connectedness, reinforcing the college’s commitment to progressive learning environments.
