This project comprises two new buildings constructed in two stages. The first stage provided specialised learning spaces such as Art, Music, Media and vocational workshop on the ground floor.
These learning spaces are carefully considered in terms of lighting, air quality, acoustic properties, sensory-friendly finishes, safety and direct access to quality outdoor spaces for self-regulation. The second floor is naturally lit, has tree-top views and is comfortable, providing diverse spaces to support staff well-being, professional development, integration of therapy staff and collaboration between staff.
The second stage has a diverse program, including Early Education Program rooms, library, café, kitchen, reception and offices. The student-run café, learning kitchen and dining room were placed at the heart of the school and are easily visible by the school community, encouraging staff, parents and students to drop in for student-made morning teas. The library is also located in this central building, along with the reception, principal’s office, conference room and Early Education Program rooms with direct access to dedicated outdoor learning spaces. The large welcoming reception allows families to connect with the school and be supported.
The entry sequences for students were carefully planned; including the safe and secure bus drop-off, sheltered paths and separate entries for early year, middle year and senior year students.
